This is the beginner method to solve the Rubiks cube. It has seven steps and with some practice, you should be able to solve the cube in about 2-4 minutes. Gan has one of the best tutorials. You can click below to download it or go directly to their page.

J Perm has also one of the best tutorials. His videos are great.

But if you want to get faster, you should learn the CFOP method below.

Cross, First 2 Layers, Orientation, Permutation (CFOP) is the most popular method for speedsolving the Rubik's Cube. It is the method used by all 3x3 world record holders in the last decade.

With CFOP you should easily get below 40 seconds, but it takes some practice.

  • 5  Start timing your solves. Use the timer.
  • 6  Learn full PLL. Go to our algorithms list.
  • 7  Move to advanced F2L. Go to our algorithms list.
  • 8  Upgrade your Cross (Advanced techniques, Cross + F2L, X-Cross). To practice use the Cross algorithm scrambler.
  • 9  Slow down you F2L and start looking ahead.
  • 10  Learn full OLL. Go to our algorithms list.
  • 11  Drill your algorithms and start timing them.
  • 12  Learn good finger tricks.
  • 13  Optimize your last layer look ahead and AUF.
  • 14  Practice OLL recognition. Click here to use the recognition tool.
  • 15  Practice PLL recognition. Click here to use the recognition tool.
  • 16  Become color neutral (start with white and yellow).
